What is an Underglaze technique?

  • Decorations are made on the thin lining layer drawn on the terracotta

  • These patterns are coloured with special porcelain paints.

  • A single layer of glaze is applied on these paints, which makes the paints invisible.

  • The tile underglaze technique ends with the final firing process.

  • The colours of the tiles, which are re-fired at 900-940C° degrees, come to light.

  • These technique is the most healthy and long-lasting tile art making technique.
